Found this great place on the way to Santa Croce. Like the one near Santa Maria Novella selling beautifully scented products – all herbal, plant based. Some items were quite affordable!

We’d been told to have a look at the Scuola del Cuoio. It’s behind, and attached to, Santa Croce. It was set up after WW2  by two local leather working families and monks from the Santa Croce Monastery to provide orphans with practical skills and a way to earn an income. Less local demand these days since compulsory education but people come from overseas. Also a focus on producing top end products.

Food. Lunch in a pizzeria. I had a pizza! Stopped off in this little shop for essential supplies for a pre dinner drink. Photo doesn’t do justice to the pomodoro in the top right corner. Huge! Dinner at a little restaurant across the Arno. Simple but relish!
