Santa Croce
Santa Croce is definitely in my top churches list. They started building it in 1294 and consecrated it in 1442. Has the beautiful marble front but round the back you see the solid stonework of the building. A mix of simple and elaborate inside. Beautiful cloisters.Features tombs of the great, if not always the good. Rossini, Galileo, Dante, Michelangelo and Machiavelli. Stunning artwork. Love the Giotto Altarpiece and crucifixes by Donatello and Cimabue. Getting in touch with my inner Catholic?
